The Standard & Poor's 500 Index retreated for the seventh consecutive session today, Friday, to hit the benchmark, its biggest weekly loss since the global financial crisis in 2008, due to the growing fears that the rapidly spreading Coronavirus will lead to an economic recession, even if stocks reduce their losses at the end of the session.
The Dow Jones industrial average fell 356.88 points, or 1.39 percent to 25,409.76 points, and the S&P lost 24.7 points or 0.83 percent to 2,954.06 points, and the Nasdaq Composite Index increased 0.89 points or 0.01 percent to 8,567.37 points.
